LAYER Celebrates 10th Anniversary with '101010' Exhibition in Milan

The British design studio LAYER celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special exhibition called '101010' during Milan Design Week 2025. The exhibition took place from April 7th to 13th at the Project Room Gallery, Corso Como 10, Milan.

The choice of location is significant, as Corso Como 10 is home to 10 Corso Como, recognized as the original "concept store." Founded in Milan in 1991, 10 Corso Como is a pioneering destination that blends culture, fashion, art, design, food, and lifestyle into a unique "living magazine" experience. Beyond retail, it serves as a hub for exhibitions, collaborations, and events, fostering a distinct aesthetic and personalized approach to style. Hosting the LAYER exhibition within this iconic space further underscores the intersection of innovative design and established cultural platforms.

'101010' presented both a retrospective of LAYER's work from the past decade and a new collection comprising six innovative design prototypes. These prototypes, created in collaboration with leading design and fashion brands, address global challenges such as urban density, resource scarcity, and climate resilience. LAYER, led by Benjamin Hubert, is known for its human-centered design approach and collaborations with high-tech companies. In Milan, the studio focused on traditional craftsmanship as a tribute to Italian manufacturing heritage.

The exhibition showcased prototypes, material samples, and production designs that illustrate the studio's design approach. LAYER presented innovative solutions for sustainability and social responsibility. The new collection included projects such as a portable rainwater harvesting system, a "future uniform" that adapts to different climate zones, and modular homes for bees.

This convergence of LAYER's forward-thinking design and the established cultural hub of 10 Corso Como made the '101010' exhibition a noteworthy event during Milan Design Week, highlighting both emerging talent and the enduring influence of Milan's design scene.
