The Art of Collaboration: Fim, Coro Italia & Etro Home Textile Present 'Chiaroscuro'
At the recent Fuorisalone, an installation titled 'Chiaroscuro' at the Biblioteca Umanistica dell’Incoronata stood out as a testament to the power of collaboration in design. The project brought together outdoor furniture specialists Fim Umbrellas and Coro Italia, under the art direction of 967arch, in an exclusive partnership with the renowned Etro Home Textile.
'Chiaroscuro' was conceived as a choral project, emphasizing how the synergy between companies, designers, and professionals can organically and engagingly communicate a brand's vision and its artistic, cultural, and value-based references.
A central element of the installation was the partnership between Fim and Etro Home Textile. Driven by Fim's desire to adorn their umbrellas with Etro's iconic fabrics, the collaboration resulted in two new umbrellas at the library's entrance. These were specially crafted using Etro's signature "Arnica" fabric, celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Recognizing the essential role of nature in outdoor spaces, landscape designer Silvia Ghirelli was entrusted with the green design, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the installation.
Coro Italia prominently showcased its Terraferma collection, designed by 967arch, within the Sala degli Archi. This collection, featuring sofas, armchairs, and low tables, is characterized by its gentle lines and immediate sense of comfort. Notably, it presents Coro's favored material, metal, in an unusually soft and sinuous form for the furniture structures.
In the small cloister, a space of quiet and slightly surreal tranquility, a single umbrella made with Etro fabrics took center stage. Similarly, the umbrellas on the terrace overlooking the cloister featured a carefully curated patchwork of three fabrics from the Etro collection.
Adding another layer of artistic dialogue, the installation incorporated selections from the Galleria Giovanni Bonelli (Milan - Pietrasanta), fostering a conversation between contemporary art and design.
Finally, the ongoing collaboration between Fim, Coro, and journalist Giorgio Tartaro continued at this Design Week with a series of interviews featuring Italian architects, designers, and artists discussing the theme of outdoor space design.
The 'Chiaroscuro' installation was a compelling demonstration of how collaborative efforts can create a rich and multi-layered experience, seamlessly blending design, textiles, and art within a unique historical setting.
